"Liar", prologue

"Liar"
Prologue
James Eisley shaved his head at age eight. Nick Ferris was new to the school. He introduced himself by telling anyone who would listen that James suffered from a rare disease that had caused the hair loss. They solved it over a ‘wrestling match’ at their lunch break, when James shoved Nick into a patch of mud and Nick wiped his muddy arms on James in retaliation. Teacher complaints were sent home with both boys, both were scolded for their ruined clothes, but were ever after found in each other’s company: grammar school had never been so fun.

"My name is Niccolò Visconti."

James trapped the message in an empty beer bottle and played it back for his father that night in the living room, after his mother had gone to bed. She was a muggle, and James was sure that whatever else she just didn't understand these things.

James' father was named Basil Eisley and he was a fairly easy-going sort of wizard. At least he was relatively used to bad jokes about being a pizza ingredient. He sat in his easy chair and leaned slightly forward as the message played with his hands clapped together and his thumbs under his chin, and didn't make any "Vice", ch 3

Dream Catchers, ch 3A girl’s sleepover party in high school goes something like this.
The girls will sit down and watch movies until their eyes melt and dribble out of their heads. Someone will sneak some sort of alcohol, something like a wine cooler or five-proof girly beer. There will be popcorn, but the popcorn won’t be fully eaten because someone put too much butter in it, and halfway through the movie it will have condensed and trapped the popcorn in the bottom in a gooey mess of re-solidified fat.

The girls will claim couches to sleep on in the wee hours of the morning, someone will pile pillows down on the carpet, and the lot wi Dream Catchers, ch 3

"Vice", ch 2.2"Vice" Chapter Two (part II)
Either the shadow-man was in no hurry to reclaim his own wand, or he didn’t know where to find it. James spent the next few weeks training without his interference.
He did, however, keep using the ebony wand. It was temperamental, vague, misleading, subtle, and unbalanced, but after he’d gotten used to the feel of it he began developing a fondness for the instrument. His own wand had felt like nothing. This one felt like having an old friend around.
It also forced him to revisit some of his first lessons at Hogwarts and relearn wand technique. His mother had once told h "Vice", ch 2.2

I've been avoiding Dream Catchers. I know.

Anyway, I went out to get a video game at a gamestop and ran into a group of people who introduced themselves as fanfiction writers. Right. ... Well, I've read it before. Tends to suck ass.

But this guy just kept talking, and I've been storing up an idea in my head for about a year now for a piece of fanfiction. That's the way I write. I thought about Dreamcatchers for three years before I finally started writing it down.

So I put up a piece of my fanfiction on here. Maybe it'll get it out of my system.
